Two Honda models chosen as “Most Fuel-Efficient Vehicles” of the year by Natural Resources Canada

Toronto, ON (February 24, 2014) – Two Honda hybrid models were recognized today by Natural Resources Canada as the most fuel-efficient new vehicles in their class for 2014. The Honda CR-Z earned “best-in-class” in the two-seater category, while the Honda Accord Hybrid was chosen in the mid-size group. The ranking is based on the lowest estimated annual fuel use based on 20,000 km driven.

About the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid
Featuring the same sophisticated styling found on the Accord Sedan, the Accord Hybrid adds upscale detailing with unique hybrid badging and blue-accented grille and light lenses, LED lighting, a unique wheel design and a decklid spoiler. The Accord Hybrid uses Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain along with the Intelligent Multi Mode Drive system, allowing it to move through three different driving modes, EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive to optimize efficiency and fuel economy.
About the 2014 Honda CR-Z
The 2014 CR-Z is a dynamic, sporty coupe and eco-conscious hybrid combined, delivering spirited performance and exceptional fuel economy. The system in the CR-Z utilizes a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, 16-valve, single-overhead cam engine with “intelligent” Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC) that receives additional power from the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system’s DC brushless electric motor. The CR-Z has a 3-mode drive system allowing the driver to choose among Sport, Normal and Econ performance modes. The CR-Z is also the only hybrid in Canada with the option of a manual transmission.
About Natural Resources Canada Most Fuel-Efficient Vehicles List
Natural Resources Canada recognizes the most fuel-efficient new light-duty vehicles in their class sold in Canada each model year. Best-in-class vehicles have the lowest estimated annual fuel use, based on 20,000 km driven with a mix of 55 percent city and 45 percent highway. For each class, the most fuel-efficient conventional vehicle and the most efficient advanced technology vehicle (where applicable) are recognized.
